These about me examples show how real people can write about themselves without sounding stiff or boastful, whether the page sits on a website, a resume, a portfolio or a school journal.
Every sample below uses a made-up person with a different job, city and voice. Read two or three that match your situation, then use the about me page builder below to put your own facts into the same shape. If you need something you will say out loud rather than write, use our interview introduction guide instead.

About me examples for a website
A website about me page answers one silent question from the visitor: can this person help me, and do I like them enough to get in touch. Lead with the reader, not your life story. Each of these four samples follows the same order (who, what, for whom, a little story, next step) but sounds different.
Warm tone: freelance illustrator in Pune
Hi, I am Meera. I draw picture books, wedding invites and the occasional cat portrait from a small studio above my parents' garage in Pune.
I started sketching on the back of my father's old ledger books and never really stopped. After six years of client work, my favourite projects are still the ones where a family tells me a story and asks me to make it look the way it felt.
If you have a story that needs pictures, write to me with a few lines about it. I reply to every message within two working days.
Professional tone: physiotherapist in Leeds
I am Tom, a chartered physiotherapist with nine years of experience treating running injuries, back pain and post surgery recovery.
Most of my patients are busy adults who want to get back to their normal week, not train for a marathon. I explain what is happening in plain words, give you three or four exercises you will actually do, and track progress at every visit.
Appointments run Monday to Saturday. Book a first assessment using the form on this page.
Playful tone: home baker in Lucknow
Farah here. I bake cakes that taste better than they look, and they look pretty good.
My kitchen turned into a bakery during a long summer holiday when friends kept ordering my mango cheesecake. Today I make birthday cakes, eggless brownies and tea time boxes for offices across Lucknow.
Fun fact: I have never made the same cake design twice. Order at least three days ahead so I can plan yours.
Small business owner: tailoring shop in Coimbatore
We are a family tailoring shop run by Lakshmi and her two daughters. For eighteen years we have stitched blouses, school uniforms and alteration jobs for families in our neighbourhood.
We believe a good fit should not need three trial visits. Bring a garment you love, and we will match its measurements. Walk in any day except Tuesday, or call to book a home measurement visit.
Resume and CV about me examples
On a resume or CV, the about me part is a short summary at the top. Recruiters read it in a few seconds, so skip hobbies and childhood. State your role, your strongest proof and the job you want next. Write it without "I" to save space, or with "I" if the employer prefers a personal style.
Resume about me: B.Tech fresher, electronics
Electronics and communication graduate from a college in Bhopal with hands on experience in embedded systems. Built a soil moisture alert device as a final year project that two local farms now use. Looking for a trainee role in hardware testing where I can learn quality processes.
CV about me: HR executive with five years of experience
HR executive with five years in recruitment and onboarding for a manufacturing firm of 600 people. Cut average hiring time from 42 days to 27 by setting up a referral process and a shared interview calendar. Seeking an HR business partner role in a growing company.
Resume about me: staff nurse moving abroad
Registered nurse with seven years in cardiac and intensive care units. Trained twelve junior nurses and led the night shift team of a 20 bed ward. Calm under pressure and comfortable explaining care plans to anxious families.
CV about me: career restart after a break
Accounts professional returning after a four year career break for family care. Earlier handled payables and GST filings for three retail clients. Recently completed a refresher course in payroll software and ready to start in a full time or part time accounts role.
Keep the resume summary separate from your spoken introduction. Interviewers notice when a candidate simply recites the top of the CV. For spoken versions, see self introduction for freshers and self introduction for experienced candidates.
Portfolio about me page samples
A portfolio about me page sits next to your work, so it should explain how you think, not repeat what the projects already show. Mention the kind of work you want more of. Clients often hire for that one line.
Portfolio: UX designer in Bengaluru
I am Rohan, a product designer who works on apps for people who do not like apps. My best projects have been for older users, first time smartphone owners and small shop owners who need a tool that works in ten seconds.
Before design I spent two years in customer support, which taught me to listen before sketching. I am open to full time roles and longer freelance projects in health and finance.
Portfolio: architecture student
Hello, I am Sana, a fourth year architecture student in Ahmedabad. I like buildings that stay cool without air conditioning, and most of my studio projects use courtyards, jaalis and thick walls to do that.
This portfolio shows five studio projects and one site survey of an old pol house. I am looking for an internship from June where I can work on low energy housing.
Portfolio: content writer
Ishaan writes long guides on money and travel that readers finish. He has written for finance newsletters, travel agencies and two university departments, and he edits his own work out loud before sending it.
If you need clear writing on a topic most people find boring, send a brief and a deadline. He usually replies the same day.
About me page ideas for a journal
An about me page in a journal or scrapbook is for you, not a client. It can be messy, colourful and honest. Students often make one at the start of a school diary or a bullet journal. Here are creative about me journal page ideas that work better than a plain paragraph.
- Draw a large outline of your hand and write one fact on each finger.
- Make a "currently" box: reading, listening to, learning, craving, worried about.
- List ten small things that make a good day for you.
- Paste a ticket, a leaf or a wrapper that reminds you of this month.
- Write three questions you want to answer about yourself by the end of the year.
- Draw your favourite place from above, like a map, and label it.
- Add a row of mood colours and fill one in each week.
- Write a short letter to yourself to open on the last page.
Sample all about me journal page: Class 8 student
Name: Anaya. Age: 13. Lives in: Nagpur with parents, a younger brother and a very loud parrot.
Currently reading: a mystery series about a girl detective. Currently learning: the keyboard, slowly. Best day: rain, maggi, no homework.
Three things I want to try this year: a science fair, a short story, and waking up before my brother.
Sample about me journal page: adult bullet journal
I am Priya, 29, a lab technician who is trying to sleep more and scroll less. This year my journal will track water, books and evening walks.
Things I am proud of: moving cities alone, my sourdough starter, saying no more often. Things I am working on: patience in traffic and replying to messages.
A simple structure for any about me page
Most strong about me writing follows the same seven parts. You will not need every part on every page, but checking the list stops you from missing the one that matters most, usually the next step.
| Part | What to write | Sample sentence |
|---|---|---|
| Who you are | Name, role, place | I am Neha, a dietitian in Indore. |
| What you do | The main service or work | I plan meals for people with diabetes. |
| Who you help | The reader you want | Mostly working parents with no time to cook twice. |
| Your story in two lines | Why you started | My father's diagnosis pushed me into this field. |
| Values | How you work | No crash diets, only food you already like. |
| Fun fact | One human detail | I still cannot make a round roti. |
| Call to action | What to do next | Book a free 15 minute call below. |
The page builder below asks for these same parts and lets you pick a tone. Fill it with short honest answers; you can always polish the wording afterwards.
Same person, three tones
Tone changes how a reader feels about the same facts. Here is one made-up yoga teacher, Kavita from Mysuru, written three ways. Pick the one that matches your clients, not the one that sounds most impressive.
Warm
I am Kavita, and I teach gentle yoga to people who think they are not flexible enough for yoga. My classes are small, slow and full of jokes about stiff knees.
Professional
Kavita is a certified yoga instructor with eleven years of teaching experience in Mysuru. She specialises in beginner and senior batches and offers corporate sessions for teams.
Playful
I cannot touch my toes on Mondays either. Join my beginner batch and we will work on it together, one stretch and one cup of tea at a time.
Notice that the professional version uses third person. That suits a company site or event listing. For a deeper look at bios written about you rather than by you, see the professional bio page.
Do and don't for writing about yourself
When people sit down to write about yourself pages, they freeze, then copy a template full of words like passionate and driven. These rules keep your self introduction about yourself readable.
Do
- Use one specific number or result instead of three adjectives.
- Write the way you talk, then remove filler words.
- Keep paragraphs to two or three lines for phone readers.
- End with a clear next step: email, book, call or visit.
- Update the page whenever your work changes.
Don't
- Start with your date of birth or your school marks unless the page is for school.
- List every skill you have ever used.
- Use jokes that only friends will understand.
- Claim to be the best or number one without proof.
- Paste the same text on every profile without adjusting length.
Common mistakes in about me pages
- Writing only about the past. Visitors care about what you do now. Keep history to two lines.
- No photo or a group photo. One clear face photo builds trust faster than any sentence.
- Hiding the contact step. If the reader has to search for how to reach you, many will leave.
- Too formal for the audience. A tuition teacher for children does not need corporate language.
- Mixing first and third person. Pick one and keep it for the whole page.
- Pasting a sample unchanged. Use the samples on this page for shape, then replace every detail with your own.
If you want a longer life story instead of a page about your work, our biography examples show how short and long biographies are written.
Frequently asked questions
What should I write in an about me page?
Say who you are, what you do, who you help and what the reader should do next. Add one short story about why you started and one personal detail. Keep it under 350 words for most websites.
How do I write an about me for a resume?
Write three or four lines at the top of the resume: your role or degree, one result with a number, your key skills and the job you want. Leave out hobbies and family details. Many people skip the word I to keep it tight.
Should an about me page be in first or third person?
First person feels personal and suits freelancers, creators and small shops. Third person suits company team pages, event programmes and formal profiles. Do not switch between the two on the same page.
What are good about me page ideas for a journal?
Try a currently box, a hand outline with one fact per finger, a list of small joys, a map of your favourite place and a letter to your future self. Journals reward personality, so drawings and lists work better than long paragraphs.
How long should a portfolio about me page be?
Around 100 to 200 words is enough, because the work itself does most of the talking. Explain how you think, what kind of projects you want and how to reach you.
Can I use these about me examples as they are?
Use them as a shape, not as final text. Replace the name, the work, the numbers and the story with your own facts. A copied page sounds generic and readers can tell.
