A self introduction for freshers has one hard problem: you have no job to talk about. The good news is that interviewers know this. They are not looking for experience; they are looking for evidence that you can learn, finish things and work with people.
This page shows where to find that evidence in your college years, gives a fill-in format, and offers fresher self introduction samples for different degrees and jobs. Each sample is for a different made-up graduate, so pick the closest one and rebuild it with your own facts. What to say when you have no experience
Every fresher has more material than they think. Go through these sources and write down anything that shows a skill the job needs.
- Final-year or mini projects. What problem, what you personally did, what result.
- Internships and training. Even a two-week industrial visit with a report counts if you can explain what you learned.
- College events. Organising a fest, managing a budget, handling sponsors or volunteers.
- Part-time or family work. Tuition classes, helping in a family shop, delivery jobs, freelancing.
- Self-learning. Online certifications, a language, a tool you taught yourself and used.
Pick the two that best match the job description. Those become the core of your introduction.

Self introduction samples for freshers by degree
Freshers often wonder how to introduce yourself well in an interview, so each fresher sample below is written in plain English as a spoken self introduction, ready for any job interview. Each one covers a different degree and role, so you can see a fresher self introduction for interview settings from campus drives to walk-ins. Read the one closest to you, then notice which details make it believable.
1 minute sample: B.Tech Computer Science, campus placement
Good morning. I am Harshit, a final-year B.Tech Computer Science student from a college in Greater Noida, with a CGPA of 7.8.
For my major project, our team of four built a tool that reads bus timings from our college transport office and sends delay alerts to students. I wrote the backend in Python and handled the database. Around 500 students now use it daily. I also did a six-week internship at a small software firm, where I fixed bugs in a billing module and learned how code reviews work in a real team.
I enjoy backend work and problem solving, and my aim is a software engineer role in a team where I can learn good engineering habits early. Thank you.
1 minute sample: B.Com graduate for a bank clerk or customer service role
Good afternoon, sir and madam. My name is Pallavi and I am from Satara. I completed my B.Com this year with 72 percent.
While studying, I helped at my uncle's medical store every evening for three years. I maintained the daily cash register, matched it with sales, and spoke to forty or fifty customers a day, many of them elderly. I also completed a basic course in Tally and banking operations.
I am patient, careful with numbers, and comfortable explaining things in Marathi, Hindi and English. I want to work in banking because I like helping people with something as important as their money. Thank you.
30 second sample: BBA graduate for a sales trainee role
Hi, I am Aman from Indore. I just finished my BBA in marketing. In my final year I sold stall space for our college fest and brought in about two lakh rupees from local shops, which was more than any year before. I like talking to people and I do not mind rejection. I want to start in field sales and learn how to manage a territory.
1 minute sample: BCA graduate for technical support
Good morning. I am Sowmya, and I have completed my BCA from a college in Mysuru. During college I was the person everyone called when their laptop would not connect to the hostel network, so I started keeping notes on common problems and fixes. That turned into a short help guide our hostel warden still shares with new students.
I also completed a networking basics certification and a two-month internship at a computer hardware shop, where I installed operating systems and diagnosed faults. I enjoy troubleshooting step by step and explaining fixes in simple words. I would like to begin my career in IT support and later move into network administration.
1 minute sample: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, production trainee
Good morning, sir. My name is Sunil, and I am from Jamshedpur. I completed my diploma in mechanical engineering with 76 percent.
As part of my course, I did three months of in-plant training at an auto parts unit, on the CNC turning line. I learned to read drawings, check dimensions with a vernier and micrometer, and record rejections. I noticed one machine had more rejections on night shift and reported it to my supervisor; it turned out to be a worn tool holder.
I am comfortable with shift work and I follow safety rules strictly. I want to grow on the shop floor and become a production supervisor in a few years.
1 minute sample: M.Sc Chemistry, quality control trainee
Good afternoon. I am Fathima from Kozhikode. I completed my M.Sc in Organic Chemistry last month.
For my dissertation, I tested heavy metal levels in groundwater samples from twelve villages using titration and spectroscopy, and presented the findings at a state-level seminar. Running more than two hundred tests taught me to be careful with records and to repeat a test when a result looked odd instead of assuming.
I am applying for the QC trainee position because I want to apply that same discipline in a pharma lab, where accuracy directly affects patient safety. Thank you for your time.
2 minute sample: MBA HR fresher
Good morning to all of you, and thanks for calling me in today. I am Kunal, and I have just completed my MBA with a specialisation in human resources from a business school in Pune. Before that, I did my BA in psychology from Nagpur.
Psychology made me curious about why people stay in or leave a job, and that is why I chose HR. During my MBA, I did a two-month summer internship with the HR team of a freight and warehousing firm. My main task was to study why warehouse staff left within their first three months. I interviewed thirty-five employees and supervisors, and found that most left because nobody explained shift rules and pay deductions on day one. I suggested a one-page joining guide in Hindi and Marathi and a buddy system for the first week. The company tried it in one warehouse, and early exits there fell over the next quarter.
On campus I was also part of the placement committee, where I coordinated with about twenty companies for interview schedules, which taught me how much planning and follow-up recruitment needs.
My strengths are listening, structured problem solving and staying organised under pressure. I would like to begin in talent acquisition or employee engagement, and your company's focus on frontline staff is exactly the area I want to learn. Thank you.

Self introduction for freshers in college
The word fresher is also used for first-year students on their first day of college or at a freshers' party. That introduction is lighter: name, hometown, course, and one fun detail. You do not need goals or proof.
30 seconds: first-year student at the freshers' welcome
Hello, I am Ishaan, from Siliguri. I have joined the first year of B.Arch. I spent my whole school life drawing buildings in the margins of my notebooks, so here I am. I play the guitar badly and I am looking for people who will still let me play.
For class presentations, seminars and more student settings, the students page has its own samples.
Mistakes freshers make in interviews
- Starting with school. Begin with your degree, not your class 10 school.
- Describing the team, not yourself. "We built an app" tells nothing. Say what you built.
- Listing certificates. Mention one that matters to the job, and what you did with it.
- Overclaiming. If you call yourself an expert in a language, expect a hard technical question on it.
- No reason for applying. Even one line on why this company shows you prepared.
- Talking about weakness unasked. Do not say "I have no experience but". Just say what you have done.
Questions that follow a fresher introduction
When freshers finish the opening answer, panels test whether the examples are real. Part of a strong fresher introduction is being ready for these:
- "Walk me through your final-year project. What would you do differently?"
- "What did you learn in your internship that you did not learn in class?"
- "Why this field and not something related to your degree?"
- "Are you open to relocation and shifts?"
- "What are you doing to keep learning now that college is over?"
Once you have a few years of work, your introduction changes a lot. See the experienced candidates guide when you get there.
Frequently asked questions
As a fresher, how should I introduce myself in an interview?
Open with your name and degree, add two pieces of proof from projects, internships or college activities, and finish on the reason this role appeals to you. Keep it to about a minute and speak in your own words.
Should freshers mention marks or CGPA?
Mention it if it is good or if the company has a cut-off. If it is average, leave it out and let your project or internship speak instead.
Can I talk about family background?
Usually no. Interviewers want to know about you. A short line is fine only if it explains something relevant, such as growing up helping in a family business.
Which kind of self introduction for freshers works best?
The one with specific, honest proof. A single project described clearly, with your role and a result, makes a stronger impression than a long list of skills.
My English is weak. How do I prepare a fresher introduction?
Use short sentences and simple words. Practise until you can say each part without reading. Clarity matters more than vocabulary.
Do I need a new introduction for each company?
No, only small edits. Swap in the project that best fits each job description and rewrite the last line about why that company. Five minutes of tailoring makes a clear difference.
